3D Printers – The Evolution (So Far…)
CARTESIAN
My printers: Creality CR10, CR10S, CR10SV2, CR10SV3, CR10 MAX
Over the time that I have been doing 3D printing, I have challenged myself with upgrading and modifying my previous printers, this can be with both hardware, and firmware. An important consideration before attempting any firmware changes, would be the components of your printer. A Printer with a touch screen is more difficult to flash that one without this function.
To facilitate my 3D printing I use the slicer software Cura (others are also available). This is an element that requires a lot of trial and error, as there are frequent updates.
CORE XY
My Printers: K1 Max
This is the next generation in 3D printing the K1 Max runs a version of Klipper firmware which means print times are about 50% faster than previous incarnations of printers. Running Klipper also means it can be controlled wirelessly so the printer has Wi-Fi and monitoring capabilities.
CoreXY printers were the natural progression for the hardware. However, given the synergy between printing firmware and the printers themselves; future developments in firmware are bound to occur in conjunction with CoreXY Printers. The K1 Max runs a version of Klipper firmware which means print times are about 50% faster than previous incarnations of printers. Running Klipper also means it can be controlled wirelessly so the printer has Wi-Fi and monitoring capabilities.
