Here you can see what each finished project looks like

I am very proud of all of my project work. Not only did they take an immense amount of time for the actual printing, but they all also required a significant amount of post-printing work. It is by doing stages like fitting electrics, and manual assembly that helps me practice for any future printing I choose to do.

Moreover, I would find my patience and resilience being tested by the length of the prints. Therefore, it was a matter of keeping interest up, not becoming bored or giving up. I would find this taxing in the event of a failed print (part). As this would require reprinting. As this added on to both the filament and time needed for the project to be finished.

However, I have been in the middle of some projects before and experienced some printer malfunctions, which has also resulted in failed prints. Thus also then requiring more time to completion, whilst also needing maintenance of the physical printers. This can sometimes result in spending out on new parts for the printers, during these.

Lastly, it is difficult to conclusively estimate how much time a project may take. This is as a result, of uncontrollable circumstances, in addition to any of the stages taking longer than anticipated. The post-printing and assembly stages are often where things might take longer.

The Tank’s printing story

This was a very steep learning curve. I decided to undertake my first project in 2018. As a result of seeing this design Thingiverse. Looking back now, this took me around 6 months of printing, but now I reckon I could get the printing aspect done in around 3 weeks. It was a really good initial project, as the parts were quite large, with the exception of the track. I incurred a lot of problems with the prints during this. But these were mainly down to settings and lack of experience. It was also my first time using coloured PLA.

Moreover, I’d recommend anyone to give this project a go!
