The Man behind it all
Hello, I’m Ryann, I’m a 34-year-old disabled 3D Printing enthusiast. I’ve tried loads of activities over the years to occupy my time. Everything from flower arranging and air-rifle shooting to RC car racing. It was the latter that segued to 3D-Printing. As I felt there must be an alternative for sourcing parts for my RC cars. And I’ve always loved making and building things. Additionally, I soon started scouring YouTube for videos on the topic and enthusing about the prospects to my then girlfriend. I obviously made a good case, as I have been doing 3-d printing for a long time now.
Man vs Machine
Maintenance of the printers themselves, e.g., nozzle changes, belts including tightening, V wheels bed levelling would be the main challenge for me, and it can feel like a bit of a battle sometimes. Especially regarding moving them around tips. Being self-taught has meant I’ve been able to adapt different methods to do this and find a way that works best. I plan on using this blog as a platform to highlight my different approaches.
My friends and family have started to make requests for items that they have found online (typically from Thingiverse). I feel proud that I have honed my 3D printing skills to a point where I feel confident in my ability to produce excellent quality items for people at their request. 3D printing also gives me a great get-out for birthday and Christmas gifts. When required, I’ve also used the “We can’t go out today, I’ve got a print on” excuse to get out of a few things. its also nice watch the prints take shape it give you a great sense of achievement .
My Personal Development
These achievements drive my desire to learn more about the intricacies of 3D printing. Such as, how to design STL files. I know that for this you can use the cad design program fusion 360 , it’s a very powerful software. Therefore, I have identified improving my familiarity, knowledge and skill with Fusion as a focus area for my personal development.
